Like the Olympic Gold medalist for whom she was named, our little Katie Ledecky is a true water sprite. This girl simply can not get enough time in the little blue wading pool. She's equally happy to splash and play in the drinking water if there's no kiddie pool available. Or any little mud puddle will do. Our girl isn't picky, as long as there's enough water to make a splash, Katie WILL make a splash.

Like all healthy puppies, Katie is full of energy -- she runs and plays hard, then naps for a bit and wakes up to wreak some havoc, chewing anything and everything that appeals to her. She also loves to shred paper.  But she's a puppy, after all, and that's to be expected. Katie gets along well with dogs and puppies from her brothers Gunnar and Brady to adult Pyrs who weigh 3 times as much as she does. She has no fear, and runs headlong through any open gate, with no worries about whether she might encounter someone -- human, canine, or other -- who doesn't appreciate her company. But really, how could you NOT love this puppy and be glad for her to come crashing into your space?

Katie and her brothers were dumped on a country road in East Texas, so we really have no idea what breeds she might be. She looks like an Akbash, but she's not as big as we would expect an Akbash to be at this age. She could be mixed with a Lab, or possibly a smaller breed. It's also possible that she's just small because she was so malnourished for the first 10 weeks of her life. She and her brothers were definitely VERY thin and full of worms when we rescued them, so they may simply be smaller than they should be because humans did not take proper care of them in the beginning. Regardless of what's in her DNA or how big she ultimately grows, Katie has a huge personality and the bravado of a dog many times her actual size. She is sure to wiggle her way into your heart when you meet her.  If you would like to give her that chance, please submit an application on our website at www.bluebonnetrescue.org
